I literally NEVER write book reviews. But after reading Book 1 and Book 2 of Kindle County I was really looking forward to the rest of the series. I could not put down the the first two books. Finished each in a day. LOVED them! Book 3 was probably the worst book I can remember ploughing through. I forced myself to not give up, thinking it must get better. Well, I made it to the last page and it never got better. I had already purchased Book 4, but after a dreary week, I have given up.Cannot believe the same author wrote The first two books and then the 3rd and 4th. Never have seen such an amazing disconnect in a book series. I am done .....

Forget your Jason Borne, Jack Ryan, etc. Mack Malloy is all they are not. He has more fallabilities than virtues. And yet he's the hero of "Pleading Guilty." He never gets ahead of the story line and always seems on the verge of losing everything, including the girl. Mack is no do-gooder, always pushing the boundaries of decency and the law to stumble through the case, barely fending off his former cop partner. The author is a master of analogy and never misses an opportunity to describe scenes in visual-inspiring detail.

Not his best. But he's still an excellent writer. I would give this 3.75 stars if I could.

This would have been a decent story if it had been half as long. It just dragged on and on. I try to always finish the books I start, but this one came close to getting ditched! I can't in good conscience recommend this book to anyone!E. PerrineManteo,NC

I like Scott Turow, and was surprised with the main character Mack Malloy! I was also surprised with the ending. I think a reader will like how Mr. Turow makes the characters come alive; they are like people you know and work with.

Scott Turow is my favorite fiction author. His characters are always multilayered but I can't imagine how he conjured up Mac Malloy the protagonist in Pleading Guilty. He is a very unusual character. I'm shaking my head over this guy. If you're interested in a fast read, just want to kill some time waiting at the airport this novel or any of Turow's other fiction books are not for you.

Turow has always developed his characters splendidly and this is no exception. Sometimes, though, I wished he would get on with the plot instead of the long explanations of human nature (which, admittedly, is food for thought.) Mack's dark whit is hilarious and entertaining. And the whodunit at the end caught me by surprise. I will also have to admit that as someone who has always been a loyal and hard worker but has been looked over and unappreciated, I enjoyed how he eventually raided his company of millions and got away with it. But I never had the opportunity or the nerve.Not five stars only because The Burden of Proof is still one of my favorites. Well, on to the next Turow novel.

First I would not recommend the book. From my stand point there wasn't any real central theme unless the intent was to describe the different personalities within a law firm.
