When I read the description for “Flowers & S***,†I smiled, and thought to myself, “That could be a lot of fun!†So I ordered it, and excitedly waited for the book’s arrival.When it arrived, however, the corner of the coloring book was bent, effectively ruining the pages all of the pages of the coloring book. The package wasn’t insured, and it wasn’t worth the postage to send it back, so I looked up the e-mail address for the seller, and sent an e-mail to them, telling them it arrived bent. I didn’t ever receive a response. It would have been nice to get a replacement, but I guess that isn’t going to happen. The problem is that the coloring book is mailed to you in a flat bubble-wrap package without any protection. Since mine was dropped somewhere along the line, the book was damaged. I realize this isn’t the seller’s fault, but the seller could have answered my e-mail.Moving on, the book itself has a glossy, beautiful and creative illustration on the front cover. There is a tip sheet inside, and it provides useful information and instructions. One of the items is a reference to the lack of perforations on the coloring pages. It’s funny, and also provides instructions about how to cut the pages out of the book. It’s too bad the book doesn’t have the perforated pages, because it would be a lot easier to display your art. But this is a minor thing. The sayings are what you would expect, given the product description. Some may make you chuckle, and some may make you roll your eyes.The illustrations are superb! The details and creativity are simply stunning, and I love looking at the designs. If you want to see some good examples of Kaylin’s art, look at her web page kaylinart dot org, under the free coloring pages tab. There, you will see a hotlink of mandalas. Take a look at the photos there, and you’ll have a good idea of what you’ll get when you order this book. It is amazing how detailed the pictures are! Those details, however, do cause a bit of an issue because many of them are just too tiny to be able to apply different colors to each of the details for accenting purposes. So maybe transferring them to a coloring book of this size isn’t the best way to accent their beauty. The other thing that was a bit sad is that sometimes a portion of the beautiful illustration was chopped off to be able to fit the picture onto the page. In cases like this, the editor would have to make a choice between making the details too hard to see or chopping off one of the edges. Both choices are not ideal, so I’m left to wonder, again, if this coloring book is the right format for this level of detail. If I’m going to send a lot of time creating a beautiful piece of art, then I want it to be something I can hang up on my wall, or send to a friend as a gift. If part of the picture is gone, that just doesn’t work for me. So I’ll skip those pages, or use them for practicing the application of colors to small details.In summary, the beautiful artwork makes this coloring book worth the purchase. Despite the executional and editorial flaws, such as missing portions of photos and extremely tiny details, the art work rises above those flaws, and provides an above-average adult coloring book experience.Do I recommend the product? YesWould I buy the product again? No. Not this exact book, but I would buy a different book by the same artist.Would I be willing to pay full price in the future? No. I already have it. But I would look for alternate products from this artist. This coloring book is kind of interesting. The paper is a really nice quality and pulls out the colors on my colored pencils extremely well. However, it is a mix of quality pictures, and pictures that didn't copy into the book very well. The phrases are pretty funny and enjoyable, and its kind of like a magic eye puzzle trying to find all the letters in the mass of mandalas sometimes. Which is great because when colored, they can be made to easily stand out. The biggest problem I have is that some of the mandalas are literally impossible to color. The details are so fine that there isn't even a space to get the color in, they're a little blurred as well. Most of the pictures are good though, and for the price it is a decent book. I found this book on a review site, where you get items at a discount or for free in exchange for an honest review. However, I still paid the price listed for everyone on Amazon. Either way I'd have left the same review. It is much better than some of the sweary books I've gotten, as it isn't just the words with designs drawn into or JUST around them. It is full pictures, with phrases or words that compliment the images. However, it could use some improvement and I hope the author tries again with better copies of the images.
I have always loved to color. It relaxes me and gets me to a much calmer place in my mind. I can color and block out the rest of the world. Guess one could say I was coloring before coloring was so cool. When I saw this mature, "immature" coloring book; I absolutely had to have it. A coloring book with swearing must be a hoot! And it is!These pictures are not your average copies that you find in most adult coloring books today. They are not perfectly spaced or perfectly aligned; however, they are definitely full of spirit and spunk. Each picture is different and each has a swear or saying that will either totally offend you or make you burst out loud laughing.Of course, I cannot tell you some of the things that show up in this book. But I will say this; I love the one which says; "I am not a princess, I don't need saving. I'm a queen. I got this *&#) handled." One of my best friends simply had to have the one that has all these beautiful flowers and right in the middle, "Spank me". Wonderfully creative and great fun!I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.
Flowers & S***: A Sassy, Sweary, and Terribly Inappropriate Coloring Book For Adults (Sweary Coloring Books) (Volume 3) is full of snarky, sarcastic, immature, and vulgar comments. That's what makes it fun! Not all pages have vulgar sayings, although the majority do lean in that direction. If you are offended easily, then this coloring book is not for you. This book isn't as vulgar as some of the adult sweary books out there, but it still has a few pages that might make a sailor blush. There are a couple pages towards the back, in the bonus section, that have such tiny detail as to make them impossible to color individual parts. Sections will have to be colored instead, and I'm not a huge fan of that. But, I'll give it a try and see how I feel about it then. Overall, I'm enjoying the variety of sayings and patterns. There are simple patterns and patterns that have lots of detail. The best thing though, is that it's not the same pattern or two or three over and over. I'll try to remember to update this when I have a finished picture. Right now, I have a couple started, but I have ADD and it's hard to sit and complete one picture at a time. :-)I'd say I got this at a discount, but it's currently on sale for the same price that I snagged it for through the review site. Still giving my honest and unbiased opinion on a heavily discounted book.
