About the Author
Ralph Brady is a retired executive from the transportation industry, with more than twenty-five years of experience owning and operating a nationally known logistics consulting company. He is married with three children and five grandsons, soon to be joined by a new grandchild in July 2012. Ralph and his wife, Madeline, have been residents of Long Island for more than forty years and enjoy both leisure and adventure travel. This has taken them to China and countries throughout Europe and the Caribbean and, in Ralph’s case, to the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania as well. While some might consider it fulfillment of a “bucket list,†Ralph has included skydiving, SCUBA diving, race car driving, glider piloting and ballooning in his list of adventures. He holds a second-degree black belt in Okinawan karate and has completed more than twenty full marathon road races. His affiliation with The History Press in publishing this book has allowed him to realize another one of his life’s dreams.

Not as wonderful as I wanted it to me. Too much focus on historic homes for me. More importantly, no map to help a traveler orient, which makes using the book rather frustrating.
I recently bought this book as a Christmas present for my adult son. I wanted him to appreciate the richness of my childhood for he has never been to Long island at all! The wonderful photographs and engaging writing about landmarks and historical places I have known was charming, informative, and thought-provoking. After devouring this book, I realized how much the creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness of its history and Long Island's incredible natural beauty continues to affect my life forty-plus years after moving to the South. Without a doubt, my favorite historical site is The Big Duck, which i first visited at five-years-old in 1955. Loved this book so much that I immediately bought another copy and sent it to my best friend, who lives in Washington State. (He couldn't wait til Christmas so he opened it and read it ASAP as well.) A great book for everyone to enjoy!

R.F.Brady has presented a very interesting and informative listing of great places to see on Long Island.Being a resident of Rockland County I am not a fan of travel to Long Island,however my curiosity has gotten a push and I hope to visit some of the interesting places mentioned in this book.Each Historic Site that is written about gives you the feeling you are there.Great Book,I highly Recommend.
